1. When Does the Competition Take Place?
A. The Competition will begin June 1, 2008 and will continue until the final Competition in January 2009
2. Where Will the Competition Take Place?
A. The semi final competition will take place in Los Angeles,CA in front of a live studio audience. The final Competition will take place in Athens Greece.
3. What is the age range for the Competition?
A. Contestants must be between the ages of 15- 65 by November 8, 2008.
4. Why is there is the competition limited to female contestants?
A. We want to honor and celebrate female guitarist from around the world.
5. I only play bass, am I allowed into the competition?
A. Yes, but be prepared to play guitar as well.
6. I don't sing, can I still enter the competition?
A. The competition does require the guitarist to be able to sing. If your playing is amazing, I would encourage you to still enter. The points for singing is minimum since this is a competition which focusses on guitar playing.
7. Why is there an entry fee?
A. The entry fee pays for the administrative costs associated with the competition. For example, we thoroughly look at each contestant. Your strengths, your weaknesses. We take the time to get to know as much about you as possible so that we may present you in the best light to our judges. Each girl will also be added to the new show website when it launches.
8. I signed up but didn't pay the entry fee. What happened to my entry?
A. We get thousands of entrants each day. Any application that does not have a fee attached to it, is automatically deleted by the system.
9. What happens after you receive my entry fee?
A. You will receive an email with the official complete application that must be filled out before the semi finals. This application is 5 pages long and comes with a request for a photo, and video demo of your performance.
10. What happens once you receive my application, photo and video?
A. You will be notified if you were selected as a semi finalist. We will notify you by mail and by email if you provide an email address.
11. What if I am not selected?
A. We encourage you to hone your craft and enter again next year. The judges are music industry professionals and their decisions will be final. We also encourage you to watch the show or come to a free taping to see what exactly the judges are looking for.
12. What if I am selected?
A. Get ready to pack your bags and come to LA. You will receive a congratulations letter and scheduling information so that you can get ready to shine!
13. I have children, will they be able to come to LA with me?
A. The show will not be responsible for the transportation and care of your children while you are in the competition.
14. Do I need to bring my Amp with me to the competition?
A. No, You will be playing with a house band and we have the finest equipment available.
15. Will I have to pay for my own housing and meals while on the show?
A. No, all of your housing, meals and transportation will be provided by the show.
16. I have friends or family that lives in LA. Can I stay with them?
A. No all contestants will be required to stay in the housing provided by the show.
17. Can my friends come to the show to cheer me on?
A. Each contestant will be given a set amount of show tickets to give to family and friends.
18. Will I be allowed to bring my own band with me?
A. No, all contestants must play with the house band.
19. Are there any particular styles of guitarist in the competition?
A. All styles of guitarist are welcome to compete.
20. Do I have to write my own music?
A. There is a songwriting element to the competition.
21. I was signed to a recording contract in the past, can I still enter?
A. No, this competition is open to unsigned and previously unsigned guitarists.
22. I have a regular practice schedule, will I have time to practice everyday?
A. Yes, everyone will have ample time to practice everyday.
23. I have special dietary needs, will the show provide the type of foods that I require?
A. Yes, please be sure to mention your dietary needs on your application.
24. How will the judging take place?
A. All contestants will be judged based on guitar skills, performance skills, stage presence as well as by audience and internet votes.
25. I noticed that the finals are taking place in Athens Greece. Do I need a passport?
A. Yes, the two finalist will need a US Passport. |
